Testimonials
From Professionals
“The workshop most certainly challenged me to
improve my public speaking abilities by participating in
a series of exercises that allowed me to practice, be challenged and coached to improve my confidence in
public speaking. I strongly recommend this workshop for anyone in the business world today as it will most
certainly turbo charge your ability to speak in public."

“I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone
who is interested in building the skills and confidence of speaking in public. In today’s world, I think they are
invaluable skills, and getting them all straight from ‘the
Basketball Coach of Public Speaking’, just makes it easier to learn in a short timeframe.
It is not possible to fully describe the excellent value of
this workshop here. It just has to be experienced to gain the
skills.”

"I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the
peaking seminar you gave at Bank of America. You taught me to enjoy public speaking and have fun with
it. It was interesting to see others in the group come out of their shells and have fun. You had a way of
making everyone feel at ease.
Thank you for the
liberating experience. You were very entertaining and very insightful. You helped me to see my weak points
but also how to use my strong points to my advantage. Thank you again for a wonderful
experience.”

“I feel strongly that your seminar would be valuable to
anyone in management. Those who are already comfortable with speaking in front of others can
improve. Those who are less than comfortable can see a dramatic change in their ability to reach those they
communicate with on a day to day basis.
Managers like
myself, can use the skills learned in your seminar when facilitating team meetings, participating in project
teams, speaking up in a group forum and any other situation where they must present their ideas. The key
here is that we can become more effective – and what company – large or small – doesn’t want to become
more effective? I also feel that there is a team building element to your seminar.
Participating in these
activities together helps the participants to learn more about each other and to improve together, and yes,
laugh and have fun together. I know that I will always have a certain bond with those who I attended the
seminar with last week. Thank you again for the opportunity and I certainly hope that Bank of America
sees much more of you!"

"The Rhode Island Army National Guard recruiting force recently attended your session on “Speaking of Public Speaking.” It was presented in a three-hour Boot Camp Seminar designed to make even the most polished speaker more effective in public speaking. The full-time recruiting force is often called upon to make presentations to school and community groups, and, although they are trained in the skills of oral presentations, some find it more difficult than others. You put everyone at ease with your smooth style and humorous anecdotes. You encouraged everyone to participate in front of their peers and had them speak on topics that were familiar and zany at the same time.
The Boot Camp Seminar that you presented is a program that is desperately needed throughout society. You cleverly point out that public speaking can be something that a person can look forward to, if given proper training. You encourage individuals to test themselves and improve each time they speak. You consistently were attentive to all individual needs and mentored those throughout the seminar. The seminar clearly shows benefits at the end of the three-hour experience. All participants were pleasantly surprised by the valuable experience gained and were equally surprised by the improvement in their speaking style. Military recruiters deal with all levels of society and this is definitely what they need at this point in their careers.
Feedback from all participants was extremely positive! The Rhode Island National Guard sincerely thanks you, Mr. Skurka, for your presentation and your willingness to further spread the word that pubic speaking can be fun. I wish to thank you
again for your contribution to our fine recruiting force."
Sincerely,

"On behalf of the VNA of CARE NEW ENGLAND management team, I would like to thank you for the excellent seminar on Presentation Skills on May 15, 2002. Our managers unanimously agreed that the seminar met their expectations, as public speaking is a required competency for their positions. Some examples of their enthusiastic feedback were:
-
“An excellent opportunity to refine presentation skills and was a great bonding/team building experience for the managers.” – CEO
(VNA CNE)
-
“Dynamic and interactive (session). I came away with many strategies toimplement.” – Program Manager
-
“Instructor was knowledgeable, organized and helpful with specifictechniques.” – Program Manager
-
“Very supportive and clear.” – Director
-
“Excellent presenter.” – Director
-
Great session… it was very helpful to practice and get feedback on myperformance.” – Program Manager
-
“The program renewed my confidence in public speaking.” – Director
A surprising but highly positive outcome was that, through Ed’s creative exercises, managers spontaneously shared information about themselves, serving as a great team-building experience. And, the session was truly light and fun; a welcome break from day-to-day management challenges. Companies would do well to consider engaging Ed to achieve both of the outcomes; that is, increasing confidence in public speaking and strengthening the team as a whole.
Thanks again for delivering a fine participative seminar.

“I left the seminar more confident of public speaking. I now would rather speak in public than die.”
- Ron Himebaugh, Warwick, RI
-
“Overall, I found your seminar to be truly valuable for anyone, no matter what his or her level of experience may be, and would recommend that anyone who has a fear of public speaking attend your presentation.”
